Did you know that there’s a rooftop space, perfect for parties, in the Radisson hotel on Golden Lane? Neither did I… until we had a Summer party there last month. It’s a rooftop but on the 1st floor so it is easily accessible from the main hotel lobby. On a sunny Friday in July, 200 people gathered for a fun Summer event. We had a couple of rain showers before the party got underway but thankfully just in time for kick off the clouds parted and the sun came out…
There was a bar marquee as well as a food and BBQ marquee. Aalso handy if the rainclouds gather to have some covered seating! The rest of the seating though is uncovered, along the water feature to one side and across on the other side of the rooftop.
For our party we had a Fiesta theme but the beauty of this space is that it lends itself to whatever theme you would like. We added extra decorations with the balloons, table decor, bunting and so on, but to be honest you could also go with it as it is, it’s a great space with or without. We hired giant games – Jenga, Foosball Tables, Beat the Buzzer and Limbo and we had a band, The Kahoots. The Band played on the rooftop towards the back which was a great setting and it lent a really cool vibe to the party having live music. Before the band the hotel had music piped which was perfect.
We offered a welcome drink to everyone as they arrived – a bottle of Corona beer or a Mexican Punch Cocktail which went down a treat. The bar marquee had beer on draught as well as wine, spirits and soft drinks. There was a Chips & Dips Bar to keep hunger at bay until the BBQ. The food was really excellent. It’s always tricky when it’s a big group but everything was great, those rooster potato wedges especially!

The hotel were great to work with in terms of customising the food options to suit our theme, changing layouts and furniture where needed. They also took guidance from us on what we wanted, for example with the chips & dip bar, we provided some pictures of the ideas and they recreated it.
So if you’re looking for an outdoor party venue for next Summer, the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel on Golden Lane is certainly one to consider.
