There’s a new lunch spot in town, well by town I mean Sandyford Industrial Estate… and it’s rather nice too. We went for a quick lunch and we will definitely be back soon…
Woodfire & Green Gourmet Kitchen is open for breakfast & lunch Monday to Friday and for Brunch on Saturdays. Luxe and contemporary describes Woodfire & Green quite well, smooth concrete flooring, blues, turquoise and mustard colours and an industrial yet soft design. Outside there’s a large area with white benches and tables. I can imagine in the Summer this will be a great spot for alfresco dining.
The lunch menu has hand carved sandwiches, soup (parsnip and apple when we visited), dressed fries and of course the signature wood fired flatbreads. I need to return to try the dressed fries as beef & truffle fries – beef drip gravy, beef rib & truffle béchamel sounds so good!
I had to have a flatbread so chose the Broccoli & Hummus – chargrilled long stem broccoli, red pepper hummus, hickory smoked tomato, chili lime sweet potato, beetroot & house pickled onions. He had The Dubliner sandwich – toasted ham and cheese deliciousness, and added a side of classic fries. Two Diet Cokes, delivered in cans too (love that), completed our lunch order.
Our food arrived quickly, important for lunch on a work day! His sandwich was toasted perfectly golden, cheese just at the right point of melting with thick slices of ham too. My flatbread was gorgeous, not quite enough tender stem broccoli but that is the only criticism. The sweet potato, hummus, pickled beetroot and onion was just a great combination.
Our total bill came to just under €25 which was great value for wholesome, freshly cooked and delicious food. A great addition to the neighborhood and businesses nearby.
