We find ourselves in in Bray now and again as we have family living there and there’s a few places we like to go for food and drinks. Lately we’ve really enjoyed a couple of visits to Dockyard No.8. With The Harbour Bar right next door for pre / post dinner drinks, it makes for a casual and fun evening.
Dockyard No.8’s menu is really seafood focused, given it’s Bray harbour location. It’s a small restaurant with simple decor. They offer corkage on wine also (€7) which we always avail of. There’s always specials on the menu also so make sure to ask. There was 5 of us on this visit, we started with crab claws, chicken wings and mussels. All good dishes, the wings come with a proper blue cheese dip too. My crab claws were very tasty, served with toasted ciabatta, but they were a little oily. Mussels were plump and served in a white wine cream sauce.
For mains, scampi proved very popular and they arrived in in a bowl on board with a pail of chips and a little pot of tartare sauce. Big juicy prawns encased in a light breadcrumb, the scampi was a definite success! For me, the fish and chips (those skin on fries!) and a joker burger completed our order.
Dockyard No. 8 is an easy, relaxed place. Nothing fancy but good. Our total bill came to €161.75, very reasonable for our group of 5 people and included corkage on the wine we brought with us.
