Hailan is a Japanese restaurant on the main street in Dundrum, just a couple of minutes from Dundrum Town Centre. With simple decor, wooden tables and benches, white walls and touches of Japanese decor it’s nothing fancy but with great Japanese food. Hailan is a nice spot for some easy mid week dining if you don’t fancy cooking and is inexpensive.
You can bring your own wine so it’s quite handy that Deveney’s off licence is just metres from the door to Hailan.
On our recent visit we enjoyed some lovely sushi, sashimi, sides of edamame beans, pork gyoza, chicken yakitori, and tempura vegetables- quite the feast!
The sashimi and sushi was fresh and tasty, some of the sushi came home with me for lunch the next day too!
A perfect light tempura batter on the vegetables, with a soy dipping sauce. This was a great dish to accompany the gyoza and chicken.
It’s good value too – 5 pieces of tuna sashimi at €6.50, 3 skewers of chicken yakitori at €5.50, 6 pieces of pork gyoza at €6… definitely worth a visit if you’re around Dundrum! They also do delivery / takeaway if you live nearby.
