I’ve wanted to try Burger & Lobster for a while now and on a work trip to London, I knew I had one evening free and was determined I was going to get there! Burger & Lobster is now 6 restaurants including the one I visited, on the 5th floor of Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge, London. The menu is simple (there’s no food menu really!) – Burger (beef), Lobster – grilled or steamed, Lobster roll. All priced at £20. There is a full drinks list though with cocktails, wine, beer and soft drinks, to choose from.
Burger & Lobster was busy when we arrived, we put our names on the list and got a buzzer (which will work in the entire Harvey Nichols building) and were told it would be around 20 minutes. Enough time to get a glass of wine in the 5th Floor Bar… we took a seat and ordered a couple of glasses of Sauvignon Blanc while we waited for our buzzer to buzz! Which it did… pretty much exactly on 20 minutes later. We trooped back to Burger & Lobster, and were brought to our table.
We looked through the drinks menu, debated over a cocktail but finally decided to order a bottle of the Portugese Vino Verde, a very lightly sparking white wine, which we thought would be perfect with lobster (and it was!). We both picked the lobster, grilled. In my mind, if there’s lobster on offer, I’m not going to get anything else, particularly not a burger! Saying that I did see some burgers come out of the kitchen and they looked good.
Our lobsters arrived and they were magnificent. On a big plate, a side salad, fries and a lemony garlicy buttery sauce. Tell me there’s something prettier than this plate around … and it tasted even better than it looked. Fresh, juicy tasty lobster, grilled to perfection – really big with a lot of meat. They give you the tool to get into it all! The fries were non greasy and a nice accompaniment to the lobster with the side salad. The buttery sauce was good also, you only need a small bit to complement the lovely lobster.
Our bill for the 2 grilled lobsters and a bottle of wine, including service (already on the bill) came to £72. Pretty reasonable for the beautiful lobster we ate.
I noted from their website, it’s a franchise so maybe Burger & Lobster will make it to Dublin yet…I hope so! In the meantime, next time I’m in London I’ll definitely be back to Burger & Lobster.
