Eat & Drink in Madrid, Spain

Spending a week in Madrid for work, I got to visit some nice spots for food and drinks. Here’s a roundup of the places I enjoyed including Bar Tomate, La Cabra, Tatel & Natsuki.

Ravine Vineyard, St. Davids Bench

While in Canada this summer we visited Ravine Vineyard a few times, for wine tasting, Lunch and dinner. It offers something a little different to a lot of the other vineyards and wineries in this area – the restaurant is more casual, rustic feeling… we loved it, gorgeous food, great setting, really nice staff.

TOCA, Ritz Carlton, Toronto

Whilst in Toronto, it was Simon’s birthday and a birthday needs a decadent lunch! I booked a table for 2 at TOCA  in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Toronto. A luxurious hotel from the moment you enter, a sweeping staircase brings you to TOCA on the mezzanine floor. The menu is based on Italian cuisine, it’s seasonal and local and…

Canoe, 54th Floor – TD Bank Tower, Toronto

The view from the bar in Canoe is one of my favourites … looking out over the water across the Toronto islands, with the City Airport (Billy Bishop Airport), sailing boats and just a gorgeous perspective from the 54th floor. Such a lovely spot to sip a gin martini…

Toronto Part 2: Review ~ The Chase Fish & Oyster, Toronto

Downtown Toronto on a Sunday evening can be tricky – the restaurants are geared and aimed at business so Sunday is often a day off. But we did come across The Chase and booked in for dinner. Located in a 19th century building on Temperance Street, The Chase is essentially 2 spaces, on the top…

Toronto Part 1: The Distillery District & Lunch at Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill

The Distillery District in Toronto is where you will find great restaurants, boutiques, galleries, studios, cafes, shops. A pedestrian only village of restored red brick, Victorian-era buildings of the Gooderham & Worts whiskey distillery. It’s just a short streetcar ride from downtown Toronto; we took the eastbound 504 King streetcar to Parliament Street and it’s just a…

Mews Dining at Toto’s Restaurant, Knightsbridge, London

Toto’s is tucked just off Walton Street in Knightsbridge on Lennox Gardens Mews. Recently renovated during Summer 2014 and under new ownership since then, it’s a stunning restaurant space. On our trips to London we generally walk a lot and around this area is our favourite place to wander. We stumbled upon Toto’s Restaurant on our…

Breakfast at Electric Diner, London

In looking for restaurants around Notting Hill online, I came across Electric Diner. Thinking it looked like a good spot, we booked in for a breakfast during our few days in London recently. This was definitely an excellent decision!

Burger & Lobster, London

I’ve wanted to try Burger & Lobster for a while now and on a work trip to London, I knew I had one evening free and was determined I was going to get there! Burger & Lobster is now 6 restaurants including the one I visited, on the 5th floor of Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge, London….

Mogg & Melzer, Berlin

Kind of a difficult blog to write and you will notice, no photos. More on that later… This place has been appearing on the go to lists for Berlin for the last while including articles in publications like Conde Nast Traveller and also the New York Times by Pete Wells. Friends were in Berlin a…

Facil, Berlin

I spent a week in Berlin, for work mostly, but I tagged on a couple of days at the end to see and explore Berlin and my Dad came too for those couple days which was so nice. He arrived Friday morning and I had booked lunch at Facil for us. Facil is a 2 star…

Sea, Sunset and Seafood

The ocean, sunset, beautiful seafood and wine – a perfect evening. Monte Mar is right on the seafront, a few km from Cascais on the road to Guincho. We were staying in a hotel nearby (that owns this restaurant), so it was a must visit for us. On arrival we were initially seated on the…
