On our way to Monart we decided to stop for lunch nearby in Enniscorthy. A little internet research found The Wilds; it looked perfect. Along with the cafe and deli, The Wilds is also a design and craft store. When we visited at the end of November, The Wilds was only new, and the design and craft part was not yet open but the part that was, the cafe, is gorgeous. Beautiful decor, furniture and design and really good food; if I was to own a cafe The Wilds is exactly how I’d have it look – simple yet stylish.
To eat, open pan fried prawns and avocado sandwich, on toasted wholewheat brown bread with rocket leaf salad (€10.95) and The Wilds chicken liver pate, served with onion marmalade, focaccia toasts and apple & celeriac salad (€8.95). And we added a side of sweet potatoes (€3.50). The prawn dish is one of their best sellers and I’m not surprised as it was everything you want, big juicy flavoursome prawns atop smashed avocado on toasted bread.
If you are in Enniscorthy, I’d absolutely recommend a visit to The Wilds, we loved it. The service, food and setting are superb and I’ll have to go back to have a browse in the store too.
