This time this ‘Best of 2015’ post is in order starting with our New Years visit to London, one of my favourite cities. We stayed near Hyde Park at the Doubletree by Hilton London Hyde Park on Bayswater Road, a nice location and well located to explore the places we love in London from there. We walked in Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, visited Winter Wonderland, and wandered around Knightsbridge and Kensington. Gorgeous houses and amazing mews garages… lots of great foot spots, brunch at Electric Diner, wine & nibbles at Kensington Wine Rooms and dinner at Toto’s were highlights…
Closer to home, we booked a last minute overnight stay at Hunters Hotel in February. And fell in love with this traditional cosy charming place. So much so we returned for another stay in November.
At Easter we again stayed in Ireland for a holiday, Kilkennt this time. We spent a really nice few days in Lyrath and a stunning dinner at Campagne too. Lyrath is a beautiful hotel, really close to Dublin too for a short break. And also close to Kilkenny city so you can enjoy all that it offers including the michelin star restaurant Campagne.
And then there was Canada and Toronto and the wineries of Niagara on the Lake and the Beamsville Bench area. We love Toronto and I’ll jump at any chance to return to this wonderful city. You can spend some time in the city with all the restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. And then less than 2 hours you are in wine country… my perfect holiday!
We stay at The Hilton, downtown – great base for the city, in the summer there’s a wonderful outdoor pool. In winter you are well located on PATH for easily getting around. Visit the Distillery District, galleries and restaurants and bars (we really like Pure Spirits there) …enjoy great food at Canoe with stunning views. And then get out of the city to the countryside, vines and wineries!
Looking forward to the travel adventures of 2016… excitedly planning the places we want to visit!
