While we froze through August, September’s been ok, warm (ish) and the return of some of the missing August sunshine has lightened the mood! Launched back in March, the East Pier in Dun Laoghaire is where you will find the Fish Shack, a fantastic idea from Ouzos (Dalkey & Blackrock).
I’m not sure how long more it will be there for this year (I’m hoping its a permanent fixture!) but go while you can and enjoy the freshest of fish and chips, lobster rolls, scampi. The menu while generally the same can change day to day with different catches but there’s a nice selection available, very reasonably priced and including kids portions too.
It was a Sunday evening, we decided to go for a walk on the pier and grab a bite to eat while we were there. We both decided on the fish & chips, which was Haddock on the day we went, and a can of Diet Coke each. our bill was €20 in total. The wait was short, maybe 5 minutes before we had steaming containers of fish & chips in our hands.
Big pieces of Haddock, flaky white fish, a think and light batter, and a delicious chips. A good helping of salt & vinegar for me, just salt for him, and we were set. Being able to sit and eat looking out at the sea and boats is perfect way to spend some time in my book!
We loved the fish shack on the pier. It seems a shame there isn’t more food outlets on the pier… perfect setting for it. I know we will return to the fish shack soon.
