A Snapshot of June on Gin & Griddle – Top 5!

It’s been a lovely June, lots of sun, warm weather – makes all the difference! Here on Gin & Griddle there’s been lots going on…

1. June started in London (for work) although I did get to visit the fantastic Burger & Lobster on a free evening – for some amazingly delicious grilled lobster…

2. Graeme Dodrill’s cooking at Saison on Kildare Street is just wonderful… there’s still the mixed feelings on the restaurant space itself but the food, wow…

5. The launch of the summer menu & wine list at The Arch Bistro (above The Glenside) in Churchtown…I was kindly invited to sample chef Stephen McArdle’s new menu for the Summer. The Arch Bistro is nearby to where we live so we were delighted to go along… we were treated to a foie gras amuse bouche, followed by Kilmore Quay crab. The fish course was John Dory and then the star, for me anyway, was the Wexford lamb, with courgette and basil puree. Dessert was based on cherries, that were poached in red wine and served with a mascarpone and vanilla shortbread and white chocolate. Each course had a paired wines. All in all, a fantastic evening – thanks Stephen and all at The Arch and Patrick from The Restaurant Doctor for inviting me.
