I know, garlic bread – its not a recipe really is it! Its actually more the butter that is the recipe part and selecting the right bread to make the best garlic bread… we had garlic bread for our dinner one evening, with some chopped up tomatoes and basil and slices of chorizo. It was perfect, garlic bread can be the star in its own right and not just the side dish…
First up make the butter…
- Olive Oil
- 2 Cloves of Garlic, finely chopped
- Bunch of Parsley, chopped
- (Big) Pinch of Coarse Sea Salt
- Grind of Black Pepper
Take the butter out of the fridge early if you can (or if you forget pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds to soften). Add a good splash of olive oil to the butter. Finely chop the garlic cloves and add to the butter / oil. Mix well with the sea salt and pepper. Chop the parsley and add it to the butter mixture. Mix it together and then place the garlic butter into the fridge until you need it.
We love garlic bread with breads like ciabatta or panini type of breads… but really personal choice, whatever your preference is. Slice the bread, place it on a baking tray, and spread the butter on the bread – I like to do this about 30 minutes before the bread goes in the oven so the garlic butteryness soaks well into the bread.
Preheat the oven to around 180 degrees and pop the bread in for around 12 minutes. Really though keep an eye on it as the time may depend on your oven and how you like your garlic bread. For me – it’s done when the bread is golden with darker edges.
