Weafer Pizza

WeaferI don’t say this lightly but I may have had the nicest pizza ever (well outside of Italy anyway) in Weafer & Cooper last weekend… it’s amazingly fabulously wonderful pizza… thin but crispy base, just the right amount of tomato, cheese and toppings. I couldn’t finish mine (it was Huge!) so took the remaining slices home and ate them for lunch the next day…still tasted good then! All 3 of us went with Pizza … I had the Diavolo, my husband had the Pollo and my mother in law had the Chevre. The Diavolo was deliciously spicy, lots of chillis and pepperoni. The Chevre was presented so prettily with the pesto swirled on top and the Pollo was piled high with rocket. All the pizzas (except the Margherita) are priced at €15. Next time I’d consider sharing and maybe getting a salad or something to go with it as they are pretty big pizzas!

Weafer HalloumiThe starter I had could also have something to do with not being able to finish the pizza… grilled hallloumi cheese with beetroot and walnuts, all of my favourite things together on one plate!

We sat at the front, at the window, theres 2 dining space, the entrance level and then a downstairs area at the back of the restaurant with an open kitchen. However it’s all very airy and open. Given a choice, I liked where we sat in the ‘upstairs’ area, it seemed calmer and perhaps more ‘grown up’. There are booths downstairs that had families in them – it was early Saturday evening, around 7 when we visited and its a local eatery.

We also enjoyed a 1/2 litre carafe of the house red a French Languedoc, perfectly nice at the price and husband (driving) just had a glass of the house white, an Italian Ancora Bianco (one small thing to note is that  the pricing of the wine list on their website is not fully accurate – the carafe is listed as €13.50 online but is €16.00). We finished off with a shared warm chocolate brownie. The greedy people I was dining out had it half gone before I could whip out the iPhone for pictures so none of the dessert!

We were all really impressed with the standard of the food, the pizza and the service. We used to leave nearby in Dalkey and I’m only sorry we don’t live closer to there now as Weafer & Cooper is properly good. Our bill came to €88.25 for the 3 of us not including service. Can’t wait to return for some of that lovely pizza-ness!
